Magic Matcha Coffee Alternative

I’m feeling super Berlin today. That’s why things are getting very hipster over here. Bring it on.

Hubby has been treating me with a foamy soy milk with a tiny bit of coffee for lots and lots of mornings in a row. I never thought one could ever get tired of it, but it indeed happened to me.

Depending on where you live, you might not find the following ingredients readily available at your local store. I recommend Amazon for the following ingredients:

Magic Matcha Coffee Alternative

Matcha is a great alternative to coffee. The best thing is you don't need to brew it. All you need is a microwave and a milk foamer or a bamboo whisk (if you're a matcha pro).

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut rice milk blend sub: ½ cup coconut milk and ½ cup rice milk
  • tsp  matcha powder
  • 1 tbsp hot water
  • 1 tbsp coconut butter

Instructions

  • Add matcha powder to your serving mug along with hot water and coconut butter.

  • Use a bamboo whisk if you have one or a milk foamer to whisk until completely dissolved.Bamboo whisks are gentle on the matcha and also help it dissolve more completely. So if you like matcha, I recommend investing!

  • Once the matcha is completely dissolved, heat your coconut and rice milk, e.g. in the microwave.

  • Pour dairy-free milk blend into your mug – barista art optional. Best enjoyed when freshly served.
