BLW Essentials

BLW Essentials

While ingredient-wise you need few things to get started, there is a few baby item essentials that will make your life easier:

  • Silicone Baby Bibs for easy cleaning. When you start BLW there is a good chance that more food will be in the bib’s pocket than in your child. But just relax, it will get better.
  • The Essential Guide―How to Introduce Solid Foods and Help Your Baby to Grow Up a Happy and Confident Eater: It’s the bible on how to wean your baby. The author is a paediatric nurse how wrote down what most people on the planet have been practicing for a very long time. Pureed foods are a result of the urge of moms to save time with their children and get them to eat large amounts of solids rather quickly.
  • Spoon and fork for young eaters: Utensils for eating are common in the Western and Asian culture alike. Thus, at some point, you need to introduce them to the little eaters. I love the concept of giving them utensils that can be chewed on before transitioning to silverware.
  • Chopsticks for young eaters: Of course, I don’t want to leave anyone out in this large world. So here is for the chopstick users-to be.
  • Soup sippy cup: While in our house, we don’t use sippy cups for drinking water, we still have them for when it’s soup day. Tomato soup is L’Maddy’s favorite and I’m yet to find another way to feed it to her other than in a sippy cup.

  • Training cup: NUK is a German brand and funnily, the bottle I used when I was bottle fed was the same brand. So, I might be slightly biased but I highly recommend this NUK training cup.
  • High chair: We have a fancy one that costed quite a bit of money but I cannot recommend it. Go for an easy-clean solution because you will be cleaning the ENTIRE high chair after every single use. Next time around, I would opt for the classic IKEA high chair.
